Hello there! I’m Dr. Shannon Lynch, welcome to my page! I am a licensed marriage and family therapist but I’m also just another person. Outside of being a therapist I enjoy spending my days baking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. I try to travel often not only for memorable adventures, but also to experience other cultures first-hand and expand my worldview. When I'm not out and about, you can find me cuddling up on the couch with my kitty Blu.
About Shannon Lynch
My Education & Experience
Education
I received my bachelors degree in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz with a minor in education. In my undergraduate career I spent a great deal of time researching the impact of divorce on the family system, relationships between children and step parents, and jealousy in romantic relationships. These interests spurred my desire to continue learning more about families and the relational dynamics between all members of the family system.
I continued my education with my masters and doctoral degrees at Alliant International University in Sacramento, Ca. As a graduate student and beginning therapist, I realized that my research interests rested in the broader patterns of families and culture. My dissertation (long research paper) was focused on the influence that family of origin plays in couple relationships, specifically why we choose the partners we do.

Professional Experience
I began my therapy career working in a non-profit community agency in Sacramento, Ca. During my early years, I worked with diverse populations and presenting problems including victims of crime, court mandated CPS, and anger management clients, as well as anxiety, depression, trauma, etc. After completing my master’s degree, I relocated to a practice closer to home that specialized in neurofeedback in addition to continuing to offer psychotherapy. While working at this private practice, I realized my passion for working with clients and couples struggling with ADHD. With the growing prevalence of ADHD diagnoses in adulthood, I have realized the benefit of being able to diagnose, coach, and support those struggling with ADHD and its related symptoms.
Aside from my clinical work, I teach part time in the Couple and Family Therapy graduate program as an adjunct faculty at Alliant International University. I am also a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor.
